ROBERT D. MCBAIN
South Texas artist, Robert D. (Dan) McBain has been adding his unique brand of creativity to Texas homes for the past thirty years. Educated at the University of Corpus Christi, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialty in painting.
Batik fabric collage has been his trademark for most of this time. Dan has exhibited in Texas art shows from South Padre Island to downtown Houston. His work can easily be recognized on the walls of elegant homes on Lake Travis as well as upscale Dallas residences and Houston's Allen Center.
Many art patrons understand the painstaking batik process, but still wonder at Dan's compulsion to cut up his carefully made images, ravel the edges, and glue them to more batick fabric just to celebrate the texture and weave of the cotton.
